The Center for Aging In Place, Westchester County, New York

AIP In Westchester

In Westchester County, most Aging in Place programs are grassroots, formed by area residents rather than government agencies or social service providers. While they differ based on the needs and resources of each community, most Aging in Place membership groups provide a mix of social support, heath care and home maintenance services, including:

Cultural and social activities such as luncheons and dinners, trips, educational seminars and musical performances
Referrals to local service providers and agencies for in-home and personal support
Discounts and other benefits from service providers, local stores and merchants
Transportation to shopping, personal care and medical appointments
Access to volunteer patient advocates
Health and wellness programs

Individuals and couples pay yearly dues to join an AIP Group. In Westchester County, these fees range from $25 to $530.

"At Home on the Sound is just about the best thing that has happened to this community.  The enthusiasm and devotion of the volunteers has impressed me tremendously.   The lectures I have been able to attend have been stimulating and informative.  And the Dine-Around has been delicious.  I’m looking forward to tomorrow.”
